RATHAM - Road Access to Temples Heritage And Monuments, is happy to be sharing its schedule for the upcoming Heritage Experience to Kanchipuram, the city of 1000 temples.

 

The well known phrase "nagarEshu kAnchi" is popularly used to introduce this beautiful city that has been active much before the commom era. This city has seen the rise and fall of many dynasties, been the venue for several schools of arts and culture and has for long been a centre for religious studies and spiritual practices. The universities that functioned her in the ancient past had visitors and student exchange from far and beyond. All popular people in power have visited this city, several religious leaders and heads have stayed here, more importantly Kanchi was looked upon as the benchmark when it comes to city planning.

 

The skyscape is dominated by several tall towering Gopurams belonging to different temples. The vast temple corridors have so many stories to share and the narrow lanes around the temples have so many frames to show. We will be visiting a few popular temples and a few not so popular ones during our 2 day stay there on the 20th and 21st of January. Apart from temples, we also have stops planned around culture corners like weaving looms, kolu doll making and the ever popular Kanchipuram Idly.
